Ensuring Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) factors
Mining is often characterised by harsh surroundings, difficult operating
conditions and by an increasingly onerous requirement to protect the
local environment in which the mine operates. Such harsh operating
conditions place maximum attention on the requirement for safety
and health issues along with the continuous monitoring of environmental issues.
Just about all of the underground and above ground operations of a
mine are controlled by a vast array of PLC and SCADA systems and
even some DCS systems. This holds true for the mine winder which takes
personnel to and from the depths of an underground mine to the hugely
expensive scrapers and excavators for above ground mines. Such harsh
environments often call for regular changes to be made to both PLC
and SCADA software to take into account the changing production issues.
To maintain a high standard of safety, a world class software change
management system is almost a prerequisite for such an infrastructure.
Our software is part of the change management infrastructure that ensures
proper rollback/recovery data exists. We track changes in PLCs, human-machine
interface systems and workstations to provide a proper audit trail and
notification of changes. This can be invaluable in understanding what
changes were made, why, and by whom.
We serve the mining market through our distribution and integration network.
